Interesting events surrounding some of the escapes-

The following was posted by Harry Murphy on The Magic Cafe on November 3, 2005

The actual W.E.A.R. performance reports are exciting to read. I’ve noticed that Murphy’s Law was in full effect for the day (Yes there was a real Murphy, and yes he is a relative!)! Reading the posts is almost an instruction manual for keeping your cool when things go wrong!

The day started with sort of a bad omen! Our own Mr. Escape, Steve Baker, had to undergo a necessary medical intervention. Of course, to his dismay, Mr. Baker was forced to cancel his W.E.A.R. performance. He managed to steal a few minutes on line to encourage the active participants.

What else could go wrong? Well…

Tony Chapparo was trapped underwater in his prop during rehearsal and could have actually drowned! Thank goodness that his wife is sharp and can keep cool in an emergency!

Ms. Morgan got stuck in here set of bridge jumpers and was unable to open one side during her dangerous Spiker escape. She was actually stuck in them following the escape and while trying to change her costume. Thank goodness that she is skilled with a hairpin!

Ufo- Had three audience members do a real number on him tying him up for his escape attempt. He had the last laugh!

Bretigan was unable to participate in planned escapes due to work conflicts and later tiredness.

Houdini man (Perry) was unable to get a venue to do the escape.

Margarette had almost everything go wrong! The contracted for, promised, and necessary props were not delivered plus the Radio station promoting the escape dropped the ball big time! She managed to pull off a W.E.A.R. escape reguardless!

Nell and Josh were given the whole day to set-up but were actually locked out of their venue until shortly before show time. Thus, they lost critical setup and walk through time. Even so, they managed to start their show on time!

Cliffg37 thought that the maintenance people, at the venue, were supposed to set up chairs for the show. He got there and found he had to do it! Cliff and his assistant did all the work setting up the auditorium making the show late.

Cindi suffered yet another Florida hurricane (Wilma) which forced last minute changes in the show. It’s no going underwater for her!

Drwilson showed up to a venue that has no heat until just before show time.

WEASEL DANDAW had the police disallow his escape performance at the original venue forcing him to move to another site.

Daniel Santos pulled off his W.E.A.R. event but forgot to get witnesses to sign forms at venue and had to redo escape at home for friends and family to witness.

The beauty is that almost everyone managed to get-er done!!!
